Flow Control

What is a Maric constant flow valve?

Constant Flow Control Valves

A Maric constant flow valve is your solution to a constant flow rate regardless of pressure.

They are designed to your flow rate specification and deliver a pre-set (non-adjustable) flow rate, that automatically controls the flow of fluid in a pipe irrespective of varying pressure differential.

They are self-regulating, self-cleaning, tamper-proof, reliable and have a life expectancy of 15+ years. They are available in a wide range of connection types, sizes and materials.

We create tailored solutions that meet your specifications

Akro Valve are the sole distributor of Maric Flow Control systems in the UK and Ireland. We custom-build these flow control solutions to meet your specific requirements, using pre-set Maric flow control rubbers and a range of Valve types and materials.

Expert technical guidance

Our expert staff have strong engineering backgrounds and can guide you through the process of selecting the correct flow control valve to meet your specific requirements.

We will ask you about the composition of the fluid you want to control, its typical temperature range, along with the pipe diameter. We can then advise you on the best valve rubber to use and the most apporopirate body material to use in the environment you are working in.

Our tailored solutions will meet your specific needs

  1. Choose the best Maric Flow Control rubber valve – depending on the fluid and temperature choose between Nitrile, EPDM or Viton.
  2. Choose the right body material – we offer Brass, U-PVC, Stainless Steel, Duplex, Bronze alloys or more unusual materials like Titanium and Inconel.
  3. Customised valve bodies – we can collaborate with you to modify our basic design to better fit into your equipment.
  4. Meet specific pressure ranges (high or low) – we have a range of control rubbers that can meet specific pressure ranges requirements of particular liquids or temperatures.
  5. Choose a valve to fit in the diameter of the pipe – under 2in (50mm) nominal diameter we recommend a threaded valve and over 2in then a Wafer type valve is recommended for fitting between flanges.
  6. Customising information marked on your valves – meeting your specific requirements.

The Flow Control valves utilise a flexible rubber control ring, with an orifice diameter that responds instantly to fluctuations in water pressure.

As pressure increases, the orifice diameter reduces to maintain the pre-set flow rate. Correspondingly, as pressure reduces, the orifice opens up to maintain the pre-set flow rate.

These valves are suitable for use in hard water areas and for unprocessed water. As the flow controlling element is a rubber material which flexes under normal operation, it minimises the risk of blockage, and reduces the build-up of scale.

Flow Control valves maintain a fixed, pre-set, constant flow rate regardless of pressure*.

This means a constant flow rate, irrespective of fluctuating pressures upstream or downstream of the valve.

Flow Control valves are simple with no external actuation. They are self-regulating, tamper-proof, long-life (15+ years) and reliable. They are available in a wide range of connection types, sizes and materials.

Our valves use the Maric constant flow control rubbers for accurate and reliable flow control.

* for standard flow control rubbers the pressure can vary between 1.4 – 10 bar (20 – 150 psi).
