Avoiding corrosion with 6 Moly

One of our regular customers in the offshore fire-fighting industry recently ordered several Flow Control wafer valves in the alloy 6 Moly or 6Mo.

This is a super austenitic stainless steel, which combines good tensile strength and high ductility with excellent corrosion resistance in seawater and any number of industrial environments.

Its higher levels of molybdenum and an increase in chromium and nitrogen sets it apart from the 316 grade of stainless steel and ensures high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.

Due to its chemical and physical properties, 6 Moly makes the ideal material for valves, pipework and flanges in the oil and gas industry.

As with all our flow control valves, the wafer valves were customised to the client’s flow rate and, in this case, customised to the client’s specific material requirements.
